Don’t Miss GWTA Gold Rush XXX!
DON’T MISS GWTA GOLD RUSH XXX!
By Judy Schaefer, Region C Director
Are you registered for this historic event taking place in Ft. Collins, CO on July 10-13? If not, time is wasting…and online registrations will only be available until June 31st.
You are going to love Ft. Collins…it’s a beautiful town in the shadow of the Rocky Mountains! The Residence Inn & the Courtyard host hotels are very nice and right across the street from one another. Some activities will take place at a meeting room in the Courtyard. A rally schedule will be released approximately two weeks prior to the event and will be included in your Welcome Packets…see this for details. The old downtown is a nice, walkable historic area with shops and restaurants 10 minutes from the hotels. And there are plenty of other restaurants, coffee shops, retail shops, and services scattered all over the city.
The Ft. Collins Elk’s Lodge, 4.9 miles from the host hotels, will provide space for the Sunday Board meeting (9 am-5 pm), Monday Opening Ceremonies (10 am); and Closing Ceremonies on Thursday, as well as several other activities. The Elk’s serves excellent food, and may prepare breakfast a day or two…stay tuned for more info. The Elk’s address is 1424 E. Mulberry St., Ft. Collins.
Chapter and State banners may be displayed at the Elk’s Club, so please bring them to the Sunday evening Welcome Dinner. If you won’t be attending the dinner, you can drop them off to Judy at the Sunday Board meeting. You must pre-register for the welcome dinner. Rally registrations may be made online at gwta.org.
Directions will be available at the registration table for a number of fantastic rides into the mountains and surrounding Ft. Collins area, and there will be a guided ride or two scheduled as well. One of them will take us to Estes Park…can’t wait to see it. Of course, I’m still waiting to see a real, live moose…and I’m determined to see one this year! Other activities will include a ”Show n Shine, a light parade & show, and late-night star-gazing! One evening we’ll invade Fort Fun, a giant arcade and game facility, right across from the Elk’s where for $25 you’ll have access to most of the games, a party room, and enjoy two slices of pizza and a drink. Judge Jack will be holding court, and the Liar’s Club will also make a return. There’s even going to be a TA version of ‘Are You Smarter than a Fifth Grader’.
Region C will be in charge of selling 50/50 tickets on Monday of Rally week, so volunteers will be needed. At present time, the daily winning ticket number will be posted at a Host Hotels after each drawing until noon the following day with instructions on how to collect your winnings. Our region will also be in charge of the following Tuesday activities – Show n Shine; Illumination Parade; and the Illumination Show. Please contact Judy if you can help…it’s much appreciated!
A special GWTA 30th Anniversary riding jacket is available. Sample jackets will be displayed at Gold Rush. An order form will be posted to gwta.org and also in Touring News. The jackets are 179.99 and there is a shipping fee of 15. The available flyer accompanies this article.
I think you’ll be pleased with all that is planned! It’s GWTA’s 30th Anniversary, so don’t miss a great opportunity to make more memories! Get your registration in soon!!!
