Gold Wing Touring Association Targets Onawa Iowa For Rally

Onawa Iowa

Located at the interchange of Interstate 29 and Highway 175 lies a historic Iowa town called Onawa.  The town will be the scene of the touring group GWTA Region "C" this Summer and lays claim to having the widest main street in the USA as well as the birthplace of the Eskimo Pie.  Nearby is the famous Loess Hills Scenic Byway and Blue Lake / Lewis & Clark State Park.  The town has many areas for recreation.

Although many of the events are still in the planning stages the town is making preparations to accommodate the club in many ways.  The mayor Onawa, Rebecca Tanner spoke with the GWTA Planning Committe on making the event a great success.

Included in the planning, is arrangements to have the entire event at the city fairgrounds (including camping) which is located right next to the local Dairy Queen and the city swimming Pool.

Also close by is the Monona County Veteran's Memorial Museum.  How would you like to park next to an A7D Corsair II Fighter Jet or an M101 A1 105mm Howitzer?  You can also visit the Kiwanis Railroad Depot and the Manona County Historical Museum all boasting no admission fees.

Just West of town is a 280 acre state park which used to be part of the Missouri River and features a unique keelboat display.  Two miles further and you'll find Casino Omaha and Blackbird Bend Motorsports Speedway.

Stayed tuned for more information regarding the upcoming GWTA Region "C" Rally at this site near you.

How do I post pictures in the Photo Gallery?

I've had a few people inquire lately as to the procedure in posting in the Region "C" Photo Gallery.  The process if fairly simple...once you get the hang of it.  Follow the steps below to begin uploading your photos to the Region "C" Gallery.

Get Approved

Before you can begin, you must be approved for posting online.  This is for obvious security reasons.  The very first step is to create your account.

Once your account has been created, use the feed back form to request access.  Be sure to include your region "C" Forum User Name and your state and chapter.

Ready To Post

The steps above only need to be performed one time so once they are done you can begin uploading photos to the forum.  To do that, just follow the steps below:

Load the Photo Gallery

First step is to load the Region C Photo Gallery.

Next verify that you are signed into the forum properly.  If you are, you should see your name in the top right hand corner of the page.  If you are not signed in then you'll see a Login Prompt instead of a Logout Prompt.

Next look for the settings tab in the banner at the top of the page.  It should be right along side of the GWTA Nebraska and GWTA Region "C" Links shown in the photo above.  Click on this tab to go into the admin section.

If you're account is setup properly you should be taken to a screen which will allow you to manage the forum.

Along the header bar the tabs will change to be square instead of rounded.  Click on the tab which says Galleries.

On the next screen will be links to all of the galleries that you have been granted access to.  Click on the "Pictures" link under the gallery which best describes the photos you would like to post.  If there isn't an applicable gallery already present, use the Feed Back From to contact your friendly webmaster so one can be created.

Upload Process

The following page allows you to edit the gallery.  Remember that you may be sharing a gallery with others so be careful with the pictures already present in the gallery.  All the way down at the bottom of the page you should find a button which says "Create".  Click this button each time you want to add a new picture.

You will be first prompted to select an album.  Select all applicable albums that your photo belongs to by checking the box next to it.

Under the album selection you find the NAME box.  Enter any descriptive name for your photo.  This will be displayed under your picture in the gallery and it should be limited to one or two words or a short phrase.

Next enter the caption for your photo into the "Description" box.  This can be longer and more detailed than the Name above.

Finally, click on the browse button.  When you push this button a new dialog box will appear that will allow you to select the photo from your local computer or CD Rom.  Once you press OK or OPEN in the dialog box the phto upload process will be ready.  Click the SAVE button at the bottom of the page to make it official.

Repeat all these steps under the "Upload Process" header for each photo you want to upload.  Once the photos are upload properly, they will automatically show up on the website.

Remember keep everything in good taste or you could lose your access to the gallery.  If you have any questions or feedback leave a comment to this posting or use the Feed Back Link to send us a private message.
