Sounds like a reason to ride to me. http://www.pbase.com/mzm/monowi (yes, web guy, I'm using IE 7 unfortunately) I know this was featured on Sunday Morning. Monowi is a village located in Boyd County, Nebraska. During the 2000 census, the village had a total population of 2; only one married couple, Rudy and Elsie Eiler, lived there. Mr. Eiler died in 2001, leaving his wife, Elsie Eiler as the only remaining resident. According to the United States Census Bureau, only 4 places in the United States had a population of one person in 2000. Although almost nearly abandoned, the town does have the 5000-volume Rudy's Library, founded in memory of Mr. Eiler and maintained by Mrs. Eiler. In addition, Mrs. Eiler runs a tavern in Monowi and draws regular customers from as far away as 80 miles. Elsie makes the best burgers in town and its a must stop for hunters and a hang out for card players on cold winter days. The return from Gold Rush would be a great time for us as we're going via that area, but unfortunately we will be in a rush to make it back to Mikey's Ride in Wallace. If anybody happens to be in the western part of the state after Gold Rush (I know, so soon after Gold Rush... I'm just calling it my Gold Rush chaser)..., the village of Wallace is expecting @ 50 bikes on Saturday July 21 for Mikey's 2nd Annual Poker Run. Brats and supper at Mikey's place after the run. If anybody's going to be in the area , they're welcome to e-mail me for the details. It's not a GWTA or HOG event; just a guy who loves his bike. Wait, don't tell me... it's the one good thing about irrigating under power and water restrictions. If you can't run the pivots during the day, let's ride. Registration: 9 - 10 am CDT at Mikey's House in Wallace -- one block off main street ... not a problem finding it in such a small town with so many bikes gathering. Bikes out 10 am CDT (as a group for a photo op). Last bike in at 6 mp CDT. If everybody comes who says they are, he'll have over 50 bikes in town for the day. Non-bikers are welcome to join the group after the ride for dogs and hamburgers.
