So how are we gonna post whats co-ordinates?? JFrum, can you put up a sticky and some how makes sure that it can't get cluttered with "stuff"?
What Randy, Jen and myself thought about was placing the coin and posting the co-ords. Give a small clue where to look for the coin i.e. "taped under corner booth". Whoever retrives the coin posts that they have the coin on the thread. They then have 1 (one) week to replace the coin and post the new co-ords. If ya do place it in a business, let the manager know whats up and tell them others will be coming to look for it. And, if in a business, let the managers know that they have found the coin so if another seeker comes through before it is posted, they can be told that the coin is already gone.
There will be 3 coins; a west coin, a east coin and a state wide coin. counties will be figured out that are for the east and the west.
The east and west coins need to travel at least 50 miles from where they were picked up. The state wide coin must travel 100 miles. A bonus for the state wide coin should be a pre-paid ice cream for the next finder...something to make it really worth while...after all, you might be riding across the state to find it... then pay it forward.
Since most of our GPS's are bike mounted, we need to make sure that the co-ords are to a building such as a DQ or a great CFS place. Placing the coin 200 ft off the road 10' up in a tree will NOT work. BUT... we need to make sure that the coins are not found by others and lost forever! I will place a brass tag on each one that says "EAST WEST and STATEWIDE. If someone outside the GWTA finds it, the tags will also have "if found call 'my home phone #' "

What did we miss? Anybody have something to add to this? The weather will turn awesome soon so I need to get these coins out and placed.

These are what the coins look like...

JFrum... I know its too late to get a link to a page started, so I will keep a map of who, when and where each coin has been.

Where gonna make this work!!!

I don't think you'd want to make the coordinates public for obvious reasons.  What if I made you a private forum, for now, until I can get something coded (next coding season)?  Members could see the details, anonymous public not.  I can't keep people from posting in the thread except to nominate a moderator in a separate forum.  This way you can have a thread for each coin and it'll be simple to "follow the trail".  BTW What are you using for a browser?

I'm using FireFox and it's working fine.  I know IE has implemented some features that disable features with this editor. Sorry, this forum software is very dated but upgrading is not possible, it'd have to be a new install.

What you gonna say about it?

BTW I would need the scans so that I can see what the actual coins look like (serial numbers and all).

What you gonna say about it?

I use both IE and Mozilla just depends, maybe santa can bring you some new software... If you'd like, I can act as a moderator to keep you freed up a little...ya justgotta show me the ropes. I figure since this ws my idea and I wanted to get this started and I come up with most of the rulings for it  then I can act as the moderator and keep track of the coins. Im not gonna dump it on you. If ya still need to see these coins ill have to run them up to ya Sunday. I work til 4PM again so after that I can ride by and show ya one. They look exactly like the pics ... the #'s are lightly etched in the little black area above "log me move me"
